I was at the Christian bookstore yesterday. They sent me a 50% off coupon for my birthday and I have been wanting to buy an English Standard Version of the Bible. (It's about the only version I don't have!) I was trying to decide between the Study Bible, the Single Column Bible, the Wide Margin Bible, etc., etc., when I found myself just reading one of them. Not thinking about the size of the print, the width of the margins, the kind of cover or anything, but just reading the words and letting them flow over me. And I realized it has been a long time since I have read like that!
Between church work, school work, house work, family, marriage, and farm work, it's easy to neglect the important things. Like showers.
I said that the words flowed over me, and that's what it felt like. Like a shower. It's funny, I always have time for a shower for my body, but don't always have time for a shower of my soul.
